COLNE FC have been accepted into the North West Counties' League following the NWCL AGM at Buxton.

The newly-established club, formed mainly from pub side Rock Rovers, will enter a team in the Second Division this coming season as well as a reserve and youth side in the East Lancs League.

Colne Dynamoes' old ground, Holt House, will be used by the club after passing an inspection last month.

Club chairman David Blacklock described it as "an historic day for the town and the people of Colne".

"All the hard work that a lot of people put in over the past year has been proven to be worthwhile," he said.

"Now Colne once again has a town team in which the people can take pride.

"I must thank all the people who were involved in launching the club and seeing us through to this great day.

"Now our priority is to establish ourselves as a successful team."
