HARD AT WORK Turf Moor chief Adrian Heath has checked out a young German star as he scours Europe for fresh talent.
And I can reveal Heath's target is a Junior World Cup star who has played in the German Bundesliga.
Heath has spent the weekend holding further discussions with his two Portuguese targets and revealed his latest move to the Lancashire Evening Telegraph today.
"I am looking to bring a young player from Germany over for the start of pre-season training," he explained.
"He is a 20-year-old striker who is currently out-of-contract with his club in Germany.
"I've made contact with the player and we're hoping to bring him over to England for an extended trial next month. He is very keen to try his hand playing in English football and has indicated he is willing to come to Burnley. "I'm not in a position to name names or which club he plays for because I know that there is interest from elsewhere.
"There is an abundance of talent out in Germany and the rest of Europe and I will continue to pursue all available options."
Heath, meanwhile, plans to conduct fresh contract talks with Marlon Beresford when the golkeeper returns from holiday later this week.
Heath added: "I've not heard from Marlon for several weeks now and I want to know what his thoughts are about the contract situation.
"He hasn't refused the deal and he hasn't accepted the contract either. I just need to know what his thoughts are about the situation because I want this thing sorted out."
