FEARS are growing for a teenager with distinctive blonde hair who has been missing from home for more than five days.

Worried police have once again issued an appeal for Sarah Jane Hopkinson to get in touch with them or her parents.

The 15-year-old from Hill Street, Baxenden, was last seen by her family on Thursday, she has since been spotted in Accrington town centre by a friend.

And Accrington police have also a issued a photograph of the missing girl in the hope that a member of the public may spot her.

WPC Diane Mansell is in constant touch with the Hopkinson family and has also been keeping a check on the home addresses of Sarah's friends.

She said: " Obviously we are very concerned for the safety of any young person who has been missing from home for several days. "We are particularly worried about Sarah because of her age and because she has not been home since Thursday afternoon.

"We would urge her to get in touch with us or her parents as soon as possible to put everyone's mind at rest."

Police have not ruled out the fact that Sarah has left the Accrington area.

Sarah left home wearing her Moorhead High school uniform and a distinctive orange jacket.

But when she was last seen in the Charter Street area of Accrington she was wearing jeans, platform shoes and a black and white polo neck jumper and platform shoes.

The youngster has long blond hair which she usually wears in a pony tail, blue grey eyes, is 5ft 6in and has a slim build and fair complexion.

Anyone who may have seen Sarah or knows of her whereabouts should contact Accrington police on 01254 382141.
