CAMPAIGNERS who claim their health and homes will be ruined by the proposed rail freight terminal in Farington have been dealt a severe blow by South Ribble Council officers.
In the face of more than 500 complaints from local residents, plans for the terminal were still steamed ahead on the recommendation of planners.
The plans were due before committee as we went to press.
Wheelton Lane Action Group spokesman Christine Harrison said: "We feel it is an environmental disaster and should be refused."
Councillor Tom Hanson, Chairman of the Development Services Committee, said: "Whichever way we decide we won't please everybody."
