JIM CONWAY is giving soccer to the kids this summer.
The Leigh RMI Soccer Youth Development Officer will be running Soccer Coaching Schools throughout July.
He has arranged three four-day courses.
Each course is open to boys and girls, aged eight to 14, and will be based at the Kings Park Christian Institute playing fields on Leigh Road.
The set dates are: Course 1 - July 8-11; Course 2 - July 15-18; Course 3 - July 22-25 (10am-4pm each day)
The course design will be structured around the highly-successful Coca Cola Soccer Stars Scheme. All basic skills will be presented with the kids given the opportunity to test themselves against set standards.
Jim, the former Bolton Wanderers coach and chief scout, enjoyed a playing career with Glasgow Celtic, Norwich City, Southend and Partick Thistle before becoming a highly-respected coach in his 13-year spell at Burnden Park.
He is now determined in his role at Hilton Park that the youth of Leigh will benefit from his expertise and knowledge.
Jim explains: "We want to target the young people of Leigh who want to learn and practice the skills that they see from the top stars. We will especially be concentrating on Euro 96 and will be running a mini tournament during the four day course.
"If our local kids want to be able to do for themselves what they see the top players doing on TV we will be able to help them to do just that!"
This initial programme from Leigh RMI Youth Development Scheme will be closely supervised by Jim and his team. The cost for the whole four days is just £25.
Applications should be made to: Jim Conway, Leigh RMI Soccer Youth Development Officer, Leigh RMI FC, Hilton Park, Leigh.
