IT'S been a busy month for Tyldesley Swimming Club.

As well as fulfilling a busy league programme, swimmers competed at the Inter-Association Age Group competition and the Northern Counties 50 Sprint Meet at the Grand Central Pool in Stockport.

The Inter-Association Age Groups saw 11 Tyldesley swimmers representing Central Lancashire and Bolton & District.

Brothers Richard and Matthew Hampson and Kate Ward gained National Age Group qualifying times and will now compete at the ASA National Age Group competition at Crystal Palace later this year.

Richard's came with some super swims in the 15-Year 200 butterfly (gold), 400 individual medley (silver) and 200 butterfly (bronze).

Matthew got his time in the 200 butterfly final, finishing just outside the medals in fourth.

Kate booked her place at the Nationals with sixth spot in the 12-Year 100 butterfly.

She then swam a PB for fourth in the 400 freestyle final.

Khalid Jhugroo swam superby for silver in the 100 breaststroke and a bronze in the 200 freestyle. He also finished sixth in the 100 butterfly and seventh in the 100 freestyle.

Stuart Carlisle swam a PB for fourth in the 12-Year 400 freestyle.

In the 13-Year group Andrew Hurst swam three PBs in the 100, 200 and 400 freestyle events, finishing sixth in the 400.

Polly Derbyshire and Michelle Todd swam to finals in the 15-Year events, Polly finishing 5th in the 100 breaststroke and 6th in the 200 breaststroke in PBs and seventh in the 200 butterfly, Michelle eighth in the 100 butterfly.

Samantha Greensmith and Kelly Banner swam PBs in the 11-Year category, Samantha in the 100 butterfly and Kelly in the 200 individual medley.

Dominic Derbyshire also swam a PB in the 13-Year 100 butterfly.

At the Northern Counties 50 Sprint Meet, Khalid Jhugroo was in devastating form.

He swam four PBs for gold in the backstroke and butterfly and silver in the freestyle and breaststroke.

Philip Stout, 16, won silver in the backstroke and butterfly, while Kate Ward swam PBs to win silver and bronze in the 12-Year freestyle and butterfly events.

In the 11-Year backstroke, butterfly, breaststroke and freestyle, Nicola Jones, Stephanie Thompson, Kelly Banner and Samantha Greensmith achieved long course PB times in all four events, as did Andrew Hurst at 13-Year and Stuart Carlisle in the 12-Year freestyle and butterfly races.
