SUPERSCAN man was flying high in Clitheroe town centre raising money for the appeal.
Five-year-old Sam Anderton, of Pendle Junior School, was the young artist who designed the portrait of scanner man and won a competition run by the Ribble Valley scanner appeal.
It was then printed on to 1,000 yellow balloons which are now being sold.
"We held an art competition for primary school pupils to draw a picture of what they thought scanner man would look like and Sam drew a face," said Vicky Lee, of Lee Carter Health Studios, Clitheroe, and Ribble Valley SuperScan committee member.
"It was so good, we thought it would work very well on balloons and perhaps become a mascot. We have already sold 500 and are hoping to sell another 500 later in the summer."
Yvonne Carter and Gill Bailey from the Ribble Valley committee were selling the balloons in Clitheroe this weekend.
