I WONDER if anyone could help me with research about a couple of families who lived in Worsthorne.
The first headstone on the left as you enter the chapel graveyard is of the Shackleton family: mother, father and son.
I am most interested in finding out more about the son. He was Thomas Shackleton, and, at times, also called himself Thomas Crabtree Shackleton. He died, aged 49, on May 29, 1894. His parents and family lived at 9 Ormerod Street, Worsthorne, in 1891.
Thomas Shackleton married Mary Ann Pilling who already had a son, Ralph.
I am also looking for details of Mary Ann's brother, William Pilling.
He was a schoolmaster and lived in The Square, Worsthorne.
In 1881 he was 25 years old, but I have been unable to trace him after this date.
Any information would be appreciated on Burnley 426053.

He is also buried in the chapel graveyard and died in March, 1945 when he was 72.
Thomas and Mary Ann had a son of their own, Alfred, who died in 1916 when he was 41. I have no idea if they had any other children.
