TIME capsules, carnivals, puppet shows and music hall were just some of the activities going on at a Fylde school as it celebrated its centenary.
Our Lady Star of the Sea on Kenilworth Road, St Annes, adopted a typically Victorian theme on Monday (June 24), to mark a week of celebrations.
Starting the party off was a commemorative tree planting and time capsule ceremony in the presence of Fylde Mayor and Mayoress Alfred and Muriel Jealous (pictured).
Inside the capsule, the children carefully placed a school photograph, calculator, centenary brochure, PE shirt and other items telling of the year.
Organiser Margaret Callaghan said: "The children specifically chose items for the capsule which would best describe our school in 1996.
"We also left a note with the capsule explaining to the finder what some of the items were - just in case they're unfamiliar them."
Throughout the week, the school laid on different events and activities which were typical of the times 100 years ago. Mrs Callaghan added: "The whole week was splendidly supported by pupils past and present, parents and governors - a wonderful success.
"All the children involved wore Victorian clothes and took part in various games, many of which have all but died off."
Other events included Victorian Music Hall in the social centre, visits to Lytham Hall, quiz of the century between staff and pupils and a fantastic craft afternoon, which included pottery, wood turning and calligraphy.
