A WARTIME romance blossomed into 50 years of marriage for Frank and Hannah Gough.
Frank and Hannah, who celebrate their Golden Wedding today wrote to each other for a year before they actually met up and got married a year after the war ended.
Hannah, known as Ann, recalled: "Frank was in the RAF and I was in the Land Army and we used to write to each other."
Since retiring as a joiner, Frank, 76, has re-kindled his interest in writing and hopes to one day write a best-seller.
Hannah, who was an auxiliary nurse at Park Lee Hospital for many years, has a double reason to celebrate her anniversary, it is also her 71st birthday tomorrow
The couple, of Ferrier Close, Blackburn, have two daughters and a son, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
