POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an accident between a car and tipper truck.
The smash at the Blackburn Road/Shuttleworth Hall link road near Padiham at 3.45pm yesterday involved a Nissan Sunny driven by Stanley Alderson, 39, of Whalley Road, Pendleton, near Clitheroe, and a Daf truck driven by Terence Dixon, 54, of Elker Lane, Billington.
Mr Alderson suffered a fractured pelvis and was detained in Blackburn Royal Infirmary.
Witnesses are asked to contact Burnley police on 01282-425001.
Three people suffered whiplash injuries after two cars crashed on the M65 near Burnley.
The incident involved a Ford Escort driven by Angela Slater, 24, of Howarden Street, Nelson, and a VW Passat driven by Brian Neville, 31, of Lowestoft, Suffolk. The Escort driver was taken to hospital with a passenger from the same car, Sarah Cullen, 22, of Colne Road, Burnley, and a passenger from the Passat, Surali Neville, 29, from Lowestoft.
Two people remained in hospital after yesterday's head-on crash between two cars in Burnley Road East, Waterfoot.
Joe Trickett, 62, of Foxhill Drive, Whitewell Bottom, who was driving his Vauxhall Cavalier, and Anthony Wolfe, of Waterfoot, a passenger in a taxi, were detained in Burnley General Hospital where their condition was described as "comfortable".
