AN EXHIBITION is being staged at Accrington town hall in honour of the famous Accrington Pals regiment.
Hyndburn's mayor Councillor Mirza Yousaf unveiled the special display on the 80th anniversary of the start of the World War One Battle of the Somme.
The display details how 235 men from Accrington were killed in less than 20 minutes and a further 350 were wounded at the height of the battle.
By the end of the war 850 pals from Accrington and the surrounding towns had died and 320 of them are buried in unmarked graves in France.
The exhibition includes a mock-up of a First World War trench and photograph's from Accrington library's pals collection.
Pupils from Benjamin Hargreave's Junior School have also contributed to the display with a special Pals' project.
The Pals exhibition is due to run until the end of the month.
