ADRIAN Heath (pictured) is expected to announce a backroom shake-up this week - with the appointment of a new Turf Moor number two.
Heath has spent several days mapping out his new strategy and will make his decision public before the weekend.
I understand there will be no major departures from the current team who served under Jimmy Mullen - with experienced assistant Clive Middlemass expected to be offered another post at Turf Moor.
Heath had a shortlist of three for the post but has now made his decision. The new appointment is expected to be an outside one.
Andy King was linked with the post, although it now appears unlikely that the Mansfield Town manager will be joining the Clarets.
Heath was still active in the continental transfer market today and has had further talks with Boavista in a bid to bring giant Portuguese centre-forward Bambo to Turf Moor.
Heath revealed he first watched the six foot three Bambo when he starred for England against Portugal in an under-21 international - and has kept a close eye on developments since.
He explained: "I spoke with Boavista today and the deal is still very much alive.
"We've hit a financial snag, although it is not a problem we can't overcome.
"The lad is desperate to come and play at Burnley. We want him at the club as quickly as possible."
Heath is also pursuing the prospect of taking the player on loan if a cash deal cannot be ironed out. He also has a Portugal defender under the spotlight.
The go-ahead Burnley chief also hopes to have at least one young German trialist in at Gawthorpe for the start of pre-season training next Monday.
"Bambo has a lot going for him as a footballer. Not only is he a big striker but he has two great feet," added Heath.
"He also has a great appreciation and hunger for the game, which these days can be quite rare.
"I've kept tabs on him for a long time now and I am doing everything in my power to bring him to Burnley."
Heath was still confident of further discussions with Wales international Jeremy Goss - despite strong interest from First Division Charlton Athletic.
"I've spoken to Jeremy since the weekend and I'm still very optimistic that he might still join us. Just because Charlton have shown an interest doesn't automatically mean he is going there."
