THE creditability of the Mastercard survey as to the golden age of music (LET, June 25), and conclusion that 'the Swinging 60's' are tops is much in doubt.
Much would depend upon the question and terminology used - which is immediately in error by equalling rock 'n' roll with the 1960's and the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, something which any rock 'n' roll die-hard would argue is nonsense.
Obviously these PR hacks are oblivious to the fact that rock 'n' roll music and artists are the 1950's (1955-62).
The Sixties music is something else.
It should not be confused with the authentic 1950's rock 'n' roll greats who are perpetually imitated in pub singalongs and karaokes by successive generations.
