REGARDING the article (LET, June 3) on the possible sell-off of East Lodge in Corporation Park, Blackburn, the council assure us that there are no more plans in the pipeline for selling-off bits of this park which was built for the townspeople.
How ridiculous it looks! On one hand, the Council is asking for Lottery funding to revamp the park, yet on the other selling off bits.
Will the new owners of the lodge be satisfied with it as it is, or will they want to make it more private in a public park, with fencing?
Maybe the lodge could have been put to better use - as a community centre, for example - as a source of a quick profit.
It seems the Council is ready and willing to sell off the town's buildings and parks heritage rather than own them.
What next - the museum? If other towns can restore their heritage, why not Blackburn?
