A MURDER-STYLE investigation has been launched after a nightclubber died following a street fight in the early hours of today.

Kevin Sudall, 22, of Darwen, was assaulted as he walked down Cicely Lane after leaving Blackburn's Club Euro nightspot.

He is believed to have been confronted by a group of up to four men near the junction with Eanam at around 3am.

Club security staff were alerted and called an ambulance crew to the scene.

Kevin, who was punched and kicked in the incident, was taken to Blackburn Infirmary with head injuries. He was later transferred to the neurological ward at Royal Preston Hospital, accompanied by his parents, and died at around 9am today.

Police were today trying to trace nightclubbers who may have witnessed the incident and Club Euro staff were examining security videos in an attempt to gain more information.

A post mortem examination was due to be carried out today.

Club Euro manager Mark Stancer said: "We don't know exactly what happened at this stage but we believe the man had been in our club and we are helping the police as much as we can.

"We haven't had a single incident in the club in the six weeks since we opened. We have security on the door and in the car parks but this incident happened some distance from the club itself."
