WANTED man Vince Overson has his heart set on a Turf Moor homecoming.
The strapping Stoke City centre-half is due to have fresh transfer talks with Clarets boss Adrian Heath in the Potteries this weekend.
And if Burnley can tie up personal terms with Overson the experienced defender could make an emotional return to Turf Moor next week.
Overson told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph today: "I've spoken to several clubs but Burnley is the one I would love to join. They are my first choice.
"At the moment I remain a Stoke player, but everybody knows my very special feeling towards Burnley. I started my career there and it will always have a special place in my heart."
Stoke boss Lou Macari has offered a 12-month deal to Overson but he added:"I know the great potential of Burnley. They could be a big club again if Adrian can get it off the ground." Meanwhile, the Clarets first team squad report back for training at Gawthorpe on Monday morning as the countdown starts towards the big Second Division kick-off on August 17.
I confidently expect Heath to tie up at least one new signing in the next 48 hours with further additions to the Clarets squad to follow in the near future.
Heath, who still has Stoke skipper Nigel Gleghorn is his sights, has spent a busy summer sounding out the transfer market.
He added: "I've said all through the summer just how positive I am about the new season and I want the players to be exactly the same.
"There were a number of players who didn't do themselves justice last season. That will have to change. I want them all to come back to pre-season training with a fresh mind and I want them to play attractive football."
