TV'S EMMERDALE star Dave Glover, ploughed into helping a Burnley Bingo Club recruit new members.
Actor Ian Kelsey made a guest appearance at the Gala membership shop in Market Square - all part of the company's drive to build on its existing 10,000 membership in the town.
The aim was also to publicise Gala's big move from the present Empire Theatre premises in St James' Street, to the Centenary Way former Ritzy's nightspot site, now being rebuilt in a multi-million pounds scheme.
The new bingo hall will be a luxury air-conditioned entertainments centre, with two plush bars, auditorium, full catering facilities and featuring top cabaret stars like Bobby Davro, the Supremes, Platters and Duncan Norville.
Gala, with 1,700 clubs, is Britain's biggest bingo operator and part of the Bass brewery group. "It is an extremely exciting venture and will take top class entertainment in Burnley into the next century," said club general manager, Mr Bob Smith. It is hoped the new club will be ready for official opening in September.
