A GOLDRUSH will be launched at Clitheroe Castle's Activity next weekend.
Among a host of events for the whole family will be gold panning sessions, in which Rex Bingham, from Macclesfield, will demonstrate the art of sifting gold from Scottish river water and visitors will be invited to try their hand.
Other highlights include a 'have-a-go' washday, using a posser and mangle, a 'bring your own' antiques ID session, guided tours of the castle and fossil hunts at Salthill.
There will be a chance to make dinosaur collages and plaster casts of fossils, to section coral and reveal its glorious coloured patterns, and to experience spinning and carding wool.
There will also be lino printing, a mystery objects competition, a fossil-discovery bran tub, and a chance to handle objects from the Second World War, including a gas mask and helmet.
A host of experts have been drafted in for the weekend to share their knowledge and skills.
