TREVOR Sinclair will not be leaving Loftus Road for Ewood Park this summer.
QPR boss Ray Wilkins continues to insist that his star forward isn't going anywhere, despite the London club's relegation to Division One.
But, in any case, I can reveal that Blackburn Rovers' interest in a player whose situation has been monitored for some time has distinctly cooled.
Rovers have tracked Sinclair ever since he opted for Rangers instead of them when he left Blackpool for less than £1 million.
And Ewood boss Ray Harford has maintained his interest in the past 12 months or so when the player's value in an inflated market has soared to several times that figure.
Tottenham are believed to have had a £3 million bid rejected recently and Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds are also said to be in the running.
But I have been told by an impeccable source that Rovers are no longer interested in trying to tempt him back North.
The main reason is that he is seen as, primarily, a wide player and the recent signing of Georgios Donis from Panathinaikos discounts another such player coming in.
Rovers now have Stuart Ripley, Donis, Jason Wilcox and Kevin Gallacher to compete for the wide roles, with teenage left winger Damien Duff looking as though he could soon be knocking on the door too. Wilkins stated again yesterday that QPR did not need to sell Sinclair and would not be doing so.
Meanwhile, as we revealed in later editions of last night's Lancashire Evening Telegraph, the Daily Mirror fell for a huge hoax over Alan Shearer's name being added to a supposed Manchester United passenger list held by British Airways for a trip to Milan at the end of the month.
Travel Management Group discovered that a member of their staff, who has since been suspended, verbally added a name to a written list supplied to BA.
United had disclaimed any knowledge of the list and the travel company have since apologised to United, Rovers and Shearer for all the embarrassment caused to them.
Travel Management chairman Ian Dunwoody accepted full responsibility.
The Away Travel Club are now taking bookings for Rovers' three away friendlies in England. The games are at Colchester (Aug 3), Cambridge (Aug 5) and Preston (Aug 12).
And Preston have announced that they will charge full League prices for Rovers' visit which is to mark the official opening of the new Tom Finney Stand at Deepdale.
Latest Double Your Money Club £500 winner is Mr Mayoh, Blackburn, number 437A.
