THREE young competition winners had a whale of a time when they took to the waves for an adventure weekend on board boat.
Christopher Sherrington, Michael Walsh and Camille Claux were selected to take part in the Ocean Youth Club sail in a contest run through the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.
They joined employees at British Aerospace for the annual trip, was aimed at developing team skills and leadership. It was the first time the company have organised a competition to take along younger people.
The winners took turns at the wheel, helped to change the sails, stood watch and cooked meals on the boat, which travelled from Liverpool to Ireland. The winners were nominated by a friend or relative who had to state why they should be chosen for this trip.
Christopher, 13, of Peel Mount, Blackburn, enjoys swimming and bike riding and is a pupil at Rhyddings High School, Oswaldtwistle.
Michael, of Princess Street, Accrington, was nominated by his mother, Jean, who says he is very sporty and enjoyed the challenge of such an adventure.
Roger Claux, father of Camille, of Cranberry Lane, Darwen, said: "Camille has never stopped talking about the trip."
