MOST martial arts are physically and mentally challenging. Whether you practice Kung Fu, Karate. Judo TaeKwondo of Kickboxing, a certain amount of fitness is required to perform at high levels.
Of course, if you are new to martial arts, this degree of fitness takes time and effort to build and maintain. You can't expect results overnight, so be patient and consistent with your training. Do not rush or push too hard otherwise you may place yourself at risk or injury.
Strength, stamina, suppleness and speed are elements which will develop but the degree of improvement really does depend on the individual. Factors such as age, previous physical condition and current build all have relevance to how quickly your fitness improves. The amount of work you put into gaining physical conditioning is also important as is nutrition and lifestyle.
If you have any doubts about your fitness or health, consult your doctor before taking up a martial art.
