I AM writing to ask for your readers' assistance. I am researching a documentary for Channel Four and am trying to contact anyone who worked as a Butlin's Redcoat between the 1940's and the early 1970's - especially people who have cine film of the time or good photographs.
Ultimately we are looking for good stories, their personal experience as a Redcoat, were they good times? Also, I am keen to find anyone who spent summer holidays at Butlin's during their teenage years, especially between 1950 and 1970.
What was it like for teenagers then? What sort of entertainment was laid on for them? Was it a place to make friends? Find romance? Was there much freedom or where you well supervised by the Redcoats? What were they like?
I am interested in any good stories of teenage life at Butlin's.
Ultimately we are looking for people who are prepared to talk 'on camera' and will be filming during August.
