A SCHEME pioneered in Leigh town centre has seen 18 new litter bins bought for the town, but more is needed to cope with trash problems.
Now litter-busting schools and businesses are putting their money forward to sponsor a bin, with four local schools, the Leigh Business Partnership, MacDonalds, and the Leigh-based Living Water Christian Fellowship among the latest organisations to pay for a bin under a scheme organised by Teresa Jennings the council's People and Places manager.
Now Teresa is determined to recruit more organisations to back the scheme for more £200 street bins or £60 lighter, moveable versions, with sponsors having their names on a plaque attached to the bin.
The Leigh Business Partnership bins are going in Bradshawgate and Lord Street, while the Living Water Christian Fellowship bins are to be placed in Firs Lane at the bottom of Wigan Road.
Anyone wanting to know more about bin sponsorship can contact Teresa on 01942 404390.
