RISHTON are to make an official complaint to the Marsden BS Cricket League about playing conditions at Bacup yesterday where Allan Donald had another seven-wicket spree.

There was much debate before the game about the state of the wicket and footholds and Rishton chairman Rod Simpson said: "The wicket was the only wet part of the square.

"It was very wet, especially the footholds. We don't expect any favours but we told Bacup before the game that we would be protesting. We wanted a new wicket cutting but they refused.

"The alternative was 'no result', so we played and perhaps our lads were fired up, judging by the outcome."

Bacup skipper Peter Thompson said: "Rishton wanted a new wicket cutting but I felt that would have been too dangerous at that late stage. I thought the wicket was fit to play on, there were no problems in the game and the umpires said they would not be putting in a report.

"In my opinion it was okay but Rishton felt differently."
