TWO flower power shoppers have been "mugged" by mindless vandals.
Hyndburn Council came up with an eye-catching tableau of a flower-filled shopping trolley and two life-size figures to brighten up Accrington town centre.
But less than two weeks after being completed both figures have been attacked by vandals.
Dismayed director of operational services Allan Hodge said: "They lasted just ten days before they were vandalised.
"The gent was pulled up and the lady was bent over," he added.
The figures were shaped in wire and
packed with soil and moss before being planted with flowers and sited on the Eastgate roundabout near the Arndale shopping centre.
Mr Hodge said:"Someone spent a week making it up, painstakingly putting individual plants in individual locations to create the final effect.
"A lot of time, trouble and imagination went into a first class professional job which has been spoiled by mindless vandals," he added.
The casualties are now in line for some floral first aid.
Mr Hodge said: "We will do what we can to salvage the situation but with the best will in the world they will never be the same again."
