BURNLEY boss Adrian Heath is on the brink of snapping up two new players - with even more likely to arrive at Turf Moor before the new season starts.
It has been a long haul for the new manager this summer but his plans finally seem to be falling into place.
Nigel Gleghorn has already been signed from Stoke City and Heath could well plunder his old club again very shortly for defender Vince Overson.
Before that he is working on bringing in an experienced midfield player from a First Division club.
And he hopes to be able to make an announcement on that move very soon.
A fee has been agreed with the player's club and it's now a matter of sorting out the personal terms.
With Portuguese striker Bambo also expected at Turf Moor in the near future - and the manager optimistic that he can finalise a deal for him with Boavista - things are starting to move very quickly. Heath also revealed he has hopes of bringing in a couple of players from Germany in the next week or so with a view to more signings.
"I said at the back end of last season that I thought we needed a minimum of three or four new faces," he explained.
"The fans like to see new signings but it's also good for the squad.
"It freshens things up, especially when the team doesn't pick itself. That's how it should be."
Meanwhile, the player-manager is in something of a strange position regarding the dispute which has arisen between the Football League and the PFA over TV payments.
There have been suggestions of a strike ballot and, being both player and manager, Heath has a foot on both sides of the fence.
He has been a PFA member all his career and a delegate at some of his clubs but he admitted: "If I had to go one way or the other, I suppose I would have to fall on the manager's side now.
