PORTUGUESE star Bambo is expected to report for pre-season training at Turf Moor early next week.
Burnley boss Adrian Heath was awaiting a fax from Boavista today.
He expected the club to confirm their willingness to release the big centre forward for training at Gawthorpe.
And once here, Heath believes, Boavista's hand will be forced and a deal finally completed.
"The big thing, I've believed all along, is to get him here for training - then it's just a matter of hopefully ironing out the finer details," said an excited Heath this morning.
"I'm just waiting for confirmation from the club now about when he will arrive here which I believe will be in the early part of next week.
"The player himself is eager to join Burnley and that's vital.
"I think we can sort it all out very soon after the player comes over."
Heath also expects to finalise a deal with a First Division player by the end of the week.
He will be seen by a specialist tomorrow and, providing there are no hitches, the player could be unveiled as the latest Turf Moor acquisition on Friday.
"I've stressed the significance of attracting new blood to Burnley before the start of the season and we are getting there," added Heath.
"It's important to have players fighting for their place in the first team and that is the kind of healthy situation I'm trying to achieve.
"Paul Proctor, the young Liverpool lad we have on trial after being recommended by Sammy Lee, is doing very well in training.
"He seems very happy here and has settled in with the rest of the lads.
"We're monitoring his situation obviously very closely."
Very close to completion also is a deal with Stoke City defender Vince Overson.
Heath is holding talks with him tomorrow and may be on the brink of capturing a second player in the space of a week from Stoke, following the arrival of Nigel Gleghorn.
With Chris Vinnicombe ruled out until September, after breaking his ankle against Wycombe last March, Heath is anxious to put in place some extra defensive cover.
"Chris Vinnicombe is back in training but I don't want to put him in a situation yet where he is involved in any strong, physical challenges," said Heath.
"We're not going to rush him.
"The prognosis is that he'll be back, fit again, in September and that is what we're aiming for with him unless his situation is seen to change in the meantime."
