BRITAIN'S grumpiest soap star Percy Sugden is set to help Victoria Hospital's MRI scanner appeal with a rare act of kindness.
Coronation Street's po-faced pensioner, alias actor Bill Waddington (pictured), is offering his famous flat cap and autographed books and photographs for auction to raise money for the appeal. And he is calling on Citizen readers to bid for the donations and help organisers reach thier £1.9 million target.
Percy's auction features four lots which will go to the highest bidders:
His flat cap, which he has signed;
A signed copy of his life story, The Importance of Being Percy;
An autographed copy of his wartime memoirs, Percy's War; and
Two autographed photos.
Bill said: "I think the Victoria Hospital scanner appeal is a wonderful cause and I am delighted to help out.
"I have donated some of my most precious items so I hope the good people of Blackpool will dig deep into their pockets.
"It is very important the local community rallies round an appeal like this and I hope it's not long before the target is reached."
