THE fight to overcome Westleigh problems will continue.

Residents voted to continue trying to make their community a better place and stay united in their battle against crime.

But they'll carry on without their leader and group founder Cath McGregor who is stepping out of the limelight after rallying residents to stick-up for themselves.

After resigning as co-ordinator of Westleigh Tenants' and Residents' Association, mother-of-two Cath said:"It's hard to make a complete break, but I need to take time-off and think about my children and myself.

"I wish the association all the luck in the world. I'm delighted they have decided to carry on.

"The majority of residents realise how important it is to maintain a close liaison with the housing department and police. People do not want to lose that close connection.

"This gives decent people a great opportunity to get the estate back in their control."

The next meeting of the Association is on Tuesday, July 23 at St Paul's Labour Club.
