WITH reference to the letter from Mr Price in The Journal Mailbox (July 4). My little girl was admitted to Wigan Infirmary's children's ward on June 30, starved and put on a drip, as she had suspected appendicitis.

I was told late Sunday that if she was still tender first thing next morning they would operate. It was 12 noon on Monday, July 1 when they decided to operate. They did not operate until 12.45am on Tuesday, July 2. This is 12U hours after the decision had been made.

Also, she was gowned up from 6pm on Monday. My daughter was terribly frightened.

I agree with everything Mr Price said about Leigh being closed and Wigan not being able to cope.

This is one record we take no pleasure in holding, but I hope no-one can beat it or come near to what Mr Price's daughter and mine had to suffer. What can we do?
