THE RECENTLY published Labour Party manifesto in preparation for the forthcoming General Election states their intention to introduce a minimum wage if elected.
Even the annual increase in old age pensions is worthless if prices continue to rise, therefore cancelling each other out.
Although I am personally in favour of a minimum wage, the only way to make sense of it is at the same time to introduce a maximum earnings policy to include prices, profits, salaries and bonuses.
Over a period of time, this will narrow the gap between rich and poor which is more conducive to democracy.
