BLACKBURN Hawks' future has been thrown into turmoil after news the planned Northern League they were due to be competing in next season is on the verge of collapse.
Two of the nine teams - Durham and Billingham - have already withdrawn while Northern Ireland's Castlereigh may be excluded for practical reasons.
And with the Southern League also apparently heading for the scrapheap, the Hawks may have to move back to a National League format.
With the league's future still up in the air, the Hawks are finding it hard to attract players and will continue to do so until a definite decision has been made. Veteran campaigner Jim Pennycook is the prime contender to take over as player/coach to succeed the inspirational Ryan Kummu.
