A PRESTON student has produced a 'bold' statement on the subject of masculinity - a urinal full of hair.
Martin Harris, 25, of Walmer Bridge, who has just completed a sculpture and fine arts degree at the University of Central Lancashire, spent £800 on his latest masterpiece.
Part of a series of six pieces exploring masculinity, the display - which is housed in Cardinal Newman College - took Martin over four weeks to make and has aroused curiosity from staff and students alike.
Made entirely of human hair which Martin gathered at his local barber's, he says it is symbolic of males of all ages: "It is a celebration of being a bloke and I am not prepared to change. It is the last bastion of manhood."
The masterpiece had to be split into four parts to be transported to the college in a van.
The display which is accompanied by a soundtrack including dripping taps, has gone down well with art and design students at the college, where Martin himself used to go.
Laura Sherliker, 17, said: "At first I thought it was rather disgusting. But it is a very original idea."
