ST HELENS Nissan dealer Andy Middlehurst claimed his third victory of the season at Cadwell Park, in his Nissan Skyline. The British Saloon Car Championship is now half way through and Andy has a 25-point overall lead in the championship.
Andy was in pole position on the 22-car grid for Sunday's Cadwell Park round, but he did not make a good start and dropped back to third place on the run into Charlie's Corner.
Andy leaned on Graham Coomes on the back straight to take second place and was soon on the back of Robin Rex in his Escort Cosworth.
On the following lap, Andy slip streamed past the Escort at 140mph and outbraked him into the following corner to take the lead. Stretching the gap, Andy Middlehurst took the chequered flag along with a new lap record on the Cadwell Park circuit.
Andy's next race is at Mallory Park on July 28.
