LOWLY Astley & Tyldesley are heading for the clash of the season.

This weekend they face bottom club Adlington, now on a bounce after recording their first win of the season in the Vimto Bolton Association.

A & T will need to produce better than the miserable 81 they did as they were blasted apart by Standish.

The Wigan side raced to 193-7, then Andy Cumbernatch took 6-34 as A & T folded. Those six wickets extended his lead over Golborne's Ewan McCray to 17 in the race for most wickets this season.

Meanwhile, Atherton are still on a rocky road with five defeats and a draw in their last six league games plus the Cross Cup semi-final defeat. It got no better as they fell at Walshaw by three wickets.

Phil West hit 46 in a total of 140, Jonathan Fearick snapped up 5-70. But Walshaw kept their cool at 142-7.

Leaders Golborne rested for the weekend.

Meanwhile, Leigh, struggling to find their way, found no relief as they crashed by six wickets at Chester BH.

Steve Bailey 21 and Dave Dove 59 helped the early score along. But 159-7 was always within the compass of the home side.

And they set off at a blistering pace with four boundaries in the first over.

Greg Dimery took three wickets to stem the tide, and Chester found it difficult to close the game. But eventually they did at 160-4.

On Saturday (2pm) Leigh face Marchwiel at Beech Walk.
