THE NORTH West was top of the list for teenage pregnancies.
But fewer pregnant teenagers in the region were having abortions than in any other area of the country.
According to new figures published by the Office of Population Censuses and Surveys, the area was second only to the South West in numbers of pregnancies among girls aged 13 to 15.
The previous year, 1,407 schoolgirls in the region became pregnant.
