BLACKBURN'S MP certainly personifies Labour's 'I'm all right, Jack' attitude.
At the lure of more loot, he leads an undignified rampant charge - to grab what he can.
No longer able to lampoon the 'Fat Cats,' for, given the chance, he demonstrates where his ambition lies - 20 per cent more than what his party suggests as a minimum wage in one go. Not bad, eh?
Jack Straw ably emphasises that Labour is totally split. A potential Home Secretary, he refuses to agree to back his leader when it comes to getting on the gravy train and looking after himself.
This display by the people's representatives in their own clamour to get their snouts into the trough opens the floodgates for the trade union barons to promote unrest.
Who will be the losers? The elderly, the infirm, the handicapped and the less fortunate in the rat race that has started.
Jack Straw has previously demonstrated that he is a fully paid up member of the Hypocrites Party when he sent his son to a Tory school because the next borough offered a higher standard than the Labour one he lives in.
Yet, in his defence on MPs' pay, he says it was a free vote on the issue. So on this basis, he has the audacity to give himself a rise of as much as he can without consulting the people he represents.
They should be given a free vote now - to see whether they think he is worth it.
It's the people's money. They should decide.
