A MOTORCYCLIST was killed in a horror crash in front of shocked stallholders at a car boot sale.
The accident happened near the Coronation Arms on the A59 at Bracewell, near Gisburn, when the motorcycle collided with a car at 7.40am yesterday.
The 31-year-old motorcyclist, Anthony Bridge, of Grange Avenue, Ribbleton, Preston, was hurled through the air. He landed yards away from the wreckage of his powerful Honda 900CC motorcycle which had collided with a black VW Golf.
Sarah Ann Drake, 30, of Tinsley, Sheffield, who was driving the Golf, suffered minor injuries and was treated at Airedale Hospital, near Keighley, for shock. The road was closed for two hours while police cleared he debris.
One shocked stallholder said: "I was just turning into the market entrance when I heard this almighty crash.
"I looked in my rear view mirror and saw a body flying through the air.
"Another man got out of his car and called the police on his mobile telephone.
"Two women were trying to help the motorcyclist, but there really wasn't much anyone could do for him."
The biker was with a fellow motorcyclist.
Police said the car was turning into the car boot sale entrance.
They are appealing for witnesses of the accident to contact them at Colne Police station on 01282 863161.
