THE two correspondents (Letters, July 15 and 17) who seek to ridicule Duncan McVee's always interesting and knowledgeable contributions to "Your Letters," I find pathetic.

Being diehard Tories, presumably they are satisfied with their Government's achievements over the past 17 years.

These have produced a sick and brutalised society, in which vandalism, bullying, drug abuse and thieving are rife and murders are an everyday occurrence.

Private monopoly has been introduced in place of public provision of utilities (take water for example, a necessity of life) whereby in order to furnish rick pickings for the boardroom and inordinate dividends to shareholders, those at the bottom of the pile who cannot afford the monopoly-price charged, are liable to lose their supply of this essential commodity.

Having sold the "family silver" and squandered millions of revenue from North Sea oil and gas, this Government is hell-bent on privatising the railways and our excellent Post Offices, and who knows what else?

Duncan McVee's efforts are directed towards bringing about a change. I agree with him and I back him to the hilt.
