DOMINICK Cork fired a warning to Lancashire after inspiring Derbyshire's second win in two days at Old Trafford.

"We're going for the treble," said England's ace all-rounder, looking forward to the big NatWest quarter final next Tuesday.

Cork hit 34 from 16 balls to rescue Derbyshire after Gary Keedy and Glen Chapple had threatened to deny them a fifth Championship win in six years against Lancashire.

They were cruising at 204-2 at the start of the last hour with Dean Jones and Kim Barnett batting brilliantly, but then Keedy took three wickets and Chapple two. But Cork hit the penultimate over bowled by Keedy for 17 then added the winning single from the third ball of the last over to lift Derbyshire to fifth in the table and keep them in the title race.

It left Lancashire with just one win, at Durham, in nine Championship games this year. They are now in the bottom six of both the Championship and the Sunday League and need to beat Derby in the NatWest to keep their season alive.

But Cork, who helped Karl Krikken avert the follow-on in Derbyshire's first innings and has produced a number of outstanding performances against Lancashire over the years, as well as his Test hat-trick at Old Trafford, warned: "I always seem to play well against Lancashire and we're all looking forward to coming back here. We're desperate to get to Lord's."

Lancashire face Glamorgan in Cardiff before the NatWest game, but are unlikely to make many changes, with Neil Fairbrother still struggling with his calf injury.

Nick Speak and Gary Yates are playing for the seconds at Bedford College, where Northants piled up 390-4 declared to dent Lancashire's title hopes
