BURNLEY boss Adrian Heath today revealed the name of one of his twin German targets - Hansa Rostock striker Torsten Boer.
And the boy from the Bundesliga will join up with the Turf Moor squad for training tomorrow.
But Heath also suffered a cruel blow when the other forward he wanted to bring to England, a former German Junior World Cup player, had to abandon plans to join the club.
"I've just received a fax saying that he suffered a broken foot in training yesterday," said the Turf Moor chief.
"It's a blow but there's nothing anyone can do about it.
"Torsten is 27 and has a good goalscoring reputation. In style, he is said to be like Uwe Rosler. He puts himself about and is very mobile.
"He has had a loan spell with Union Berlin and this is an ideal opportunity for us to have a look at him.
"It seems to happen quite a lot on the continent that clubs will let you have a look at players before you decide to buy. I think that's a good system."
Heath has been scouring Europe to strengthen his squad, with some success. "People are now getting to know that we are in the market and what kind of players we are looking for," he said.
Both Portuguese striker Bambo and the German addition Boer will go with Burnley on their busy pre-season trip to Northern Ireland which should afford the manager the perfect opportunity to see just what the new men can do. If they impress he will no doubt endeavour to push to sign them both before the start of the League season on August 17.
There have been one or two strains from the pre-season training but, so far, nothing serious and Burnley should be able to take a strong squad across the Irish sea on Saturday for their five-match programme. The tour begins on Saturday evening with a game against Coleraine.
Burnley then play Ards next Monday, Glenavon on Tuesday, Glentoran on Thursday and Crusaders the following Saturday.
In addition, they go to Chester on Monday, August 5, and entertain Liverpool on August 12.
Rossendale United take on a Burnley X1 at Dark Lane tonight in a pre-season friendly (kick-off 7-30pm).
Colne Clarets Supporters Club are running a trip for Burnley's pre-season tour of Northern Ireland and there are some seats available.
Other trips which have already been finalised are: Luton, August 17, price £14 adults (£11 concessions), York City weekend, two nights, price £60 adults (£30 juveniles).
