ADRIAN Heath introduced a fourth new face, German Torsten Boer, to the Turf Moor squad today and the message from the Hansa Rostock man came over loud and clear - I want the chance to make the grade in England.
Boer, a fan of the English game since childhood, is keen to impress so that his desire to play in this country is fulfilled.
"I like English football and this is a great chance for me," he said.
"Football in this country is a sport of the people - the fans give their team tremendous support.
"I'm just hoping that the clubs can agree a deal very soon."
Burnley boss Heath also stressed that he hasn't finished with the transfer market just yet.
He has already signed midfield players Nigel Gleghorn and Damian Matthew, as well as taking forwards Bambo and Boer from Portugal and Germany respectively for loan periods, with a view to permanent moves.
And Heath remains very interested in recruiting former Burnley stalwart Vince Overson from Stoke.
That may now have to wait until the squad return from next week's trip to Northern Ireland.
"Ideally, I would still like to bring in a couple more players before the start of the season, and I would like to think that will happen," he said today. "Last season, there were times when the team too often virtually picked itself and I am determined that will not be the situation this time."
Heath would have had a second German forward at Gawthorpe today but for ill luck with injury.
Boer's Hansa Rostock team-mate Marco Kuntz was set to fly over last night but, as we exclusively revealed, suffered a broken foot in training 24 hours earlier to scupper the move.
The manager is optimistic that Gerry Harrison, who will need a check on a calf strain, will be fit to take his place in the tour party and also expects Mark Winstanley to shake off a neck strain.
One man who will miss the trip is striker Ian Helliwell.
He has a knee injury but the manager reported he was making good progress and could be fit in a couple of weeks.
A Burnley X1 won 2-1 at Dark Lane last night in an opening pre-season friendly against Rossendale United who took the lead.
Ian Duerden equalised 15 minutes later and Burnley were the stronger side in the second half with Paul Proctor striking home a sweet winner on the volley.
