LANCASHIRE Enterprises Ltd faced a major threat to its funding under a new Government clampdown.
Applications for EEC cash, which LEL needed to pull off the massive £80 million Leeds-Liverpool Canal regeneration scheme and other vital projects, had been frozen - pending a Treasury review on spending.
Worried Lancashire Enterprises chiefs had been privately canvassing support from all sectors of the county's business community.
