WOULD someone enlighten me as to the purpose of mini-roundabouts - in particular, those on Willows Lane and Ormerod Street, Accrington.

I am under the impression that the normal action when using a roundabout is to stop or give way to traffic from the right; then, when safe to do so, go 'around' clockwise.

However, every single day my life and that of my family is put in jeopardy by drivers who obviously haven't the slightest idea (or don't care) what they are doing.

They either scream through without slowing down, driving over the top of the white 'bump,' or even go the 'wrong' way round.

This practice is not confined to members of the public. Taxis, for example, ignore their existence. I have seen council vehicles, mini buses, ambulances and even several police cars mis-using them.

Why do the police not do something about educating (or prosecuting) bad drivers? The council have obviously spent a great deal of taxpayers' money, in an attempt to reduce the number of accidents and injury.

Why are they allowing this dangerous practice to continue?
