SWAN At Whalley, who has enjoyed sparkling form recently, suffered a setback at Catterick on Wednesday and won't run at 'Glorious' Goodwood next week.
The four-year-old gelding, owned by Capt Harry Barlow, landlord of the Swan Hotel, Whalley, took a knock after he entered the stalls for the five-furlong CSS SDN BHD Handicap.
He was withdrawn and did not come under starter's orders.
"Jockey Jimmy Fortune was angry because he thought he was on a winner," said Capt Barlow.
"The horse had beaten both the eventual first and second in the Catterick race, but he will recover quickly and his next target will be the Wetherby's Handicap at Chester next month." "He's been going excellently recently, although the handicapper has hammered him.
"But he's a tough horse, on top form, and will get over this knock in a day or two".
'Swan' finished third last time out at Warwick last weekend after the five-and-a-half-hour road journey to the meeting left him dehydrated.
Abbot Of Whalley, a three-year-old, owned by a syndicate of Whalley villagers could be in action soon.
He is being prepared for an early appearance at Southwell.
