A POEM by Accrington pensioner Connie Worthington has been included in a treasury of poetry compiled by The International Society of Poets.
Her 20-line work, entitled Peace, is one of 500 poems in the national anthology called A Passage in Time.
Mrs Worthington, 77, of Dowry Street, sent it off last August after reading about a free competition in a national newspaper.
She said: "It was something that came to me when Ireland and Bosnia were trying to get peace.
"It's about where peace could be found in the country and other places," she added. Mrs Worthington, who has been writing for more than 10 years, has had poems published in local newspapers but this is her first in a book.
The International Society of Poets discovers and encourages poets by sponsoring competitions that are open to the public.
