ONE in three people will face cancer at some time in their lives. Recent years have seen campaigners raise awareness on the threat to women. But concern is growing that men are even more at risk. Every day, over 200 men die from the disease.
The Men and Cancer Conference is planned to take place in Manchester on the weekend of August 31-September 1. It will enable men coping with cancer to meet and explore their needs in the only event of its kind in Britain.
The event is promoted by the National Conference of Cancer Self-Help Groups and funded by the Department of Health. It is backed by CancerLink, the leading charity providing cancer support through self-help and information.
The basic fee is £20 for delegates, with a full price set at £63.25 for a conference report, one night's accommodation, food and drinks. Places can be reserved by sending a cheque, payable to NCCSHG, to Gail Moores, 16 Firs Crescent, Formby, Liverpool 7 1PT.
