RETIRED bus inspector Jack Wiggins thought Dorothy was just the ticket when they met 52 years ago at Tony's Ballroom in Blackburn.
And on Saturday, Jack, 73, and Dorothy, 74, who live in Cunliffe Close, Blackburn, celebrated 50 years of wedded bliss.
Dorothy was a 24-year-old fuse factory worker when she met Jack, 23, who started his transport career on Blackburn Corporation trams at 17.
The pair had a two-year courtship before tying the knot at St Barnabas Church, Johnston Street, on July 27 1946.
They settled in Shaw Street, Blackburn and had one son Brian, 47, a former advertising manager for the Lancashire Evening Telegraph .
He now works as a marketing manager for Langwood Publications in Blackburn.
Jack served in the Royal Artillery during the war and afterwards returned to the buses.
Dorothy worked as a sales assistant at Gray's clothes shop in Blackburn.
