EAST Lancashire was pinpointed as one of the country's worst blackspots for mortgage repossessions.
The Lord Chancellor's office figures showed that court actions against Blackburn's debt-ridden homeowners had more than doubled.
In 1984 there were 145 repossession cases at Blackburn County Court. Now these had risen to a staggering 298. Local court statistics revealed that East Lancashire was well above the average.
